At almost 44 years old, Looking back at the past 10-14 years I’ve taken my finances less than seriously and I realize it’s time to make a drastic change. I once had an idea of what I wanted, but until now I didn’t clarify the goal, I didn’t work towards the goal and I wondered somewhat, aimlessly chasing shiny objects.

Maybe you’re in a similar situation.

If you’re tired of not having money, and then sending the little money you do have to creditors and other obligations, jump on board this boat. I’ll teach you everything I know, and share everything I learn.

One of the things I’ve learned is to set big goals, then work your way back to set progressively smaller goals to establish a clear roadmap on how to achieve the large goals. A clear plan and roadmap can pivot and adapt as you go, but you must have something in place.

Here are the goals for this new project:

Short term goals

  1. Design the blog; less is more; pick a decent template and move on.
    • Pick colors.
    • Pick fonts.
  2. Make the blog presentable.
    • Clean main menu
    • Clean footer
    • Remove placeholder content
  3. Clean up the rest of the template.
    • Remove all fluff that’s not needed.
  4. Set up a subscriber list.
    • Collect name, last name, and email.
    • Send a welcome email with this post.
    • Setup for automatically sending all 30 articles starting the following Monday from subscription.
    • Send articles, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
  5. Launch the blog by May 7 with 30 or more articles.
    • Main articles need to be over 1000 words.
    • Support articles (FAQ, vocab, “dear baby”) at least 500.
    • All must be evergreen.

Longer Term. (launch to 12 months)

  1. Share what I know about personal finances.
  2. Share what I learn about credit, debt, and money management.
  3. Get 400+ visitors per day, THEN launch affiliate links.
  4. Publish 5 or more new articles per week after May 7. Two articles must be evergreen so I can add to the email sequence.
    • 2 follow-ups or expansion to the first 30.
    • 1 Motivation / Inspiration / Self Help
    • 1 FAQ type.
    • 1 dear Abby type
    • 1 opinion/news.
  5. Average 822 daily visitors (300,000 for the first 12 months).
  6. Average of 15 email subscribers to reach least 5000 email subscribers by day 366.

13-24 Month Goals.

  • Launch members at $ 99/year for the lifetime of the site for the first 6 months. After 6 months, the Price is $69 for every 6 months.
  • Launch shop with T-shirts and apparel. Phrases, quotes, slogans.
  • Lock in 10 sponsors. $100,000/year each.

Publish at least 5 new articles per week after May 7.
