What is a Credit Summary vs Credit Report?

Each institution that checks your credit tends to show you or discuss a credit summary. They do this to review why you’re getting the type of outcome you are.

For example, if you’re getting a great loan at a great rate, they’ll tell you it’s because of certain information in your report. Conversely, if you’re being denied for a loan, they’ll tell you why. The credit summary is just a snapshot of the key elements of your credit report.

The actual credit report contains the details of accounts, how long you’ve been paying them, or how long you’ve had them open, previous known addresses, credit inquires, credit utilization, and other personal information.

You can check your own credit report in a lot of different places. I have credit report checking websites listed here, but there are more. You may want to check with one of your credit cards; sometimes, they offer free credit reports as a value add on their websites.
